This obviously is a day late but I was out all day yesterday so here it is now! As many people do cool things for Halloween, this WoW pumpkin carving contest is pretty frickin AWESOME. I was originally just going to link to some other cool game-related carvings but these blew the WoW ones were even better. A couple of my friends and I carved a pumpkin but being the non-artistic people we are, we printed out a stencil and carved around that instead. We were still pretty proud of ourselves

Anyway, yesterday I saw This Is It which was GREAT! I can understand why some people may not like it though because it is just a bunch of MJ’s rehearsals for his last tour which unfortunately never happened so it’s not perfect or anything but it still looked so amazing. That would have been one amazing concert. And of course the songs are amazing but the dancing was fabulous too. It was really cool to see MJ really involved with how the songs and dances were supposed to be and how well he knew everything that was going on. And the green screen clips between songs that introduced them was AWESOME! Of course, particularly the Thriller one. Awesome. What was kind of sad though was the turnout. The theatre I went to was basically empty. Sure, it was Halloween, but it was a 4pm showing and wouldn’t seeing that just add to the awesomeness of your Halloween? I would have thought our generation still knew enough about the awesomeness of MJ to respect him. No matter what his personal life was, no one can deny the impact he’s had on music and dance and he is the King of Pop. Of course, as much as I was happy and excited to watch it, the beginning and the end reminded me of the sadness for why they even had to make this into a movie, so you will definitely feel a variety of emotions watching this. Now I need to go Youtube some more MJ songs, particularly those on the “This Is It” album.

And in random but also awesome news, Nintendo announced some upcoming games and DUDE IT SAYS GOLDEN SUN DS! OMFG YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s still TBA but hey! It’s at least ON THE LIST! YAAAAAAAAAAY!
lol can you tell I’m excited? Hopefully it won’t be “temp.” for long!

In other Kotaku news, the british band Kasabian has an interesting promo for it’s new song. And as the title says, it looks difficult but totally awesome. Football Hero in itself is just a cool concept, but for publicity for a song is a pretty genius idea.

Anyway, I’ll be busy out of town next weekend so there may not be a post, but I’ll see what I can do!

I’ve been busy busy busy and next week is going to be insane so this is basically going to be something of a picture recap of the episode.

I did see this earlier this week and it reminded me just how awesome the 90s were. Good times.
And this is kind of old now but I gotta admit, I kind of want this, and it’s even a “unisex perfume” so I could get away with it. Gotta love how much people will milk a franchise for all that it’s worth. And the funny thing is, it works.

First, since I do skip some major episode points, I’m going to do a ‘quick’ summary. After being in the sphere, the energy gets sucked into the meteor core and Suou goes ‘contractor-like’ and saves Hei by pulling him with her into the river. Then after some of Suou’s crybaby moments and realizing Shion’s near the Hell’s Gate in Japan, the government uses Tanya to use Nika to find the two of them and they end up on the run with Mao (YAY!) who is currently possessing Pecha. Hei realizes he can’t use his powers and then Suou, after seeing all her friends get hurt goes into ‘contractor mode’ and the giant gun (though not as giant as in the theme song) comes out of the meteor core and she plans to kill all the contractors. Unfortunately, even with July’s help, she can’t aim (Well we can’t kill off anyone too quickly, can we?). After she hesitates when shooting Tanya, Hei stops her and she faints. Meanwhile, Kirihara gets recruited to Section 35 who plans to destroy the Syndicate.

Why does he look like a mass murderer (even though he kind of is) when he’s being electrocuted?

I feel like this actually happens a lot.

I don’t remember that the eyes usually glow when in ‘contractor mode’.. or is that new to this season…?

I’m also confused because on the one hand I think Suou absorbed Hei’s contractor-ness (but not his particular power) with help from the meteor core and that’s where the weapon came out of so it doesn’t seem to me like she’s actually a contractor… and yet she has to pay a remuneration. So if she didn’t have the meteor core/gun, what is her contractor ability? This is weird. But of course, the main character(s) have to be a special case to the contractor rule. (coughHeicough. I still don’t really know what’s up with him yet I kind of do but it doesn’t make sense to me).

But I guess WTF moments are pretty important plot points, right?

Lol yay my sister started playing Crisis Core and I’m very excited. Why, I’m not completely sure, but I am getting the feeling of wanting to play CC again so for now I’ll have to live with playing it vicariously through her. It probably won’t happen during the winter holidays since I’ll hopefully be getting Dissidia and 358/2 Days so there will be plenty of games to play. I’ll have to make due with The World Ends With You right now. And I kind of said this before, but OMG JOSHUA! I hate him and his smugness but at the same time I don’t like Neku for being THAT remorseful because for all we know, he even planned this far… (I tried not to say too much but I’m at the beginning of Chapter 3 right now if that helps)

Anyway, so I’ve watched the second ep of Darker than Black Gemini of the Meteor and the first three of Inuyasha – The Final Act so that’s what this’ll be focused on. Random interesting bits here and there too maybe lol. We’ll see

So in Darker Than Black, we now have an opening, which is great!

All openings must have the back of a badass with their longcoat being blown in the dramatic wind.

But this is a pretty ridiculously long gun.

But anyway,things didn’t go quite the way I thought they would. I thought this would have been in a flashback but apparently the hat makes his hair look shorter. And he’s working for the CIA now? And I can’t say I’m a fan of the scruffy Hei. I don’t mind the long hair too much but the ‘just-enough-to-show-it’s-there’ facial hair doesn’t work for me…

This guy’s hair, on the other hand, works.

And what does that make you…?

The episode itself was pretty interesting, although I can’t say I’m liking a lot of the focus on this girl, but I guess that’s how this is going to be. The only really important bits were at the end when Hei and Suou were in the… electric sphere. And what happened to Yin? This will hopefully be explained and hopefully SOON.

I also find it interesting that they show a little tidbit of the episode after the credits, almost to make sure you stay til the end. (even if the preview wasn’t enough or in Naruto or Bleach, the random comical sketches) And it showed Hei’s star disappear? So he’s either dead (highly unlikely) or no longer a contractor and transferred his powers to Suou? Even thought he wasn’t completely one in the first place? I’m still pretty confused about that… That and I don’t completely understand what happened in the first season finale… I even tried watching it again and that didn’t help. I’ll probably watch that series over again, that is, if I ever get the time lol.

I thought this was cute at first until I thought of it as animal cruelty. And I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Damn you negative thoughts that last longer than positive ones.

Now, some Inuyasha stuff.
Going into this, I just want to say that I have never watched subs of it (since I only watched the show occasionally whenever it came on TV but enough to know what’s going on and then some) so the voices are totally new to me. Not that I don’t like them but it’s just a change from my usual Ocean cast. I’m relieved at least I won’t have to learn any new names, other than maybe pronunciation. And the reminiscent episode name jingle was very reminiscent just made me smile
I was also hoping for maybe a bit more of a recap from the first series but that didn’t happen. I still understand what is going on but reminders/flashbacks are always nice. I have a feeling they’re pretty pressed for time?

I don’t know why but Inuyasha’s voice in Japanese seems to have the happy anger like Naruto while from what I remember in the dub, it mainly had the anger. But Sesshomaru sounds even more AWESOME in Japanese lol.

I love how beginnings and endings connect so well.

And the second episode was pretty sad, maybe because a pretty MAIN character was killed off but I just think the whole idea of giving someone what they have been wanting forever just to snatch it away right after (in this case with their death) is just so horrible. And it was such a sad Kagura/Sesshomaru moment… but at least she was happy, if only for a moment. (also, maybe it’s because I haven’t seen the whole show/manga but I definitely don’t remember any hint whatsoever at this pairing. Wtf. Rin ftw! Ooh that rhymes lol.)

Kawaii! Who wouldn’t want a cute pet that purrs at your legs and that can also become large enough for three people to sit on and still fly?

And the third ep was basically a power-up for Sesshomaru, with a sword that can create a path to the Underworld. I was hoping (even more so when they showed a flashback of Kaguya!) that he’d somehow revive her, but apparently not. And he obviously cares about her since his emotions are the reason for this power-up. Maybe I’ll go take a look at how the manga handles this… Anyway, looks like the next episode will be Inuyasha’s turn for a power-up. Still, you can’t deny how cool Sesshomaru is.

Anyway, The World Ends With You has been taking up most of my time this weekend (without spoiling much, all I wanna say is WTF and Joshua is SO annoying) along with yesterday/partly today’s X-Men movie marathon including X-Men, X2 and Wolverine. (There is no X3 and I have no idea what you are talking about.) But seriously, they are a great bunch of movies. It was my first time seeing Wolverine so it was really cool seeing all the little connections here and there and it had a great cast as well but as we all know, it has a sad ending… but it’s still a good movie. I enjoyed it

So my plan right now is to share some of my thoughts on first episode of the sequel of Darker Than Black! So basically, BEWARE.

Right off the bat, the animation looked fabulous. It definitely did not disappoint. It was also a nice refresher to see them talk about the stars, seeing as that’s pretty important and it reminded me of some of the unanswered questions that were left after the first season. Anyway, it was also nice to see April back in all her colours and also interesting to see the continuation of month/date codenames. (I guess they assume there will never be more than 366 of them alive at one time in their group? lol) And it was really cool how April starts this off with some stats.

The smoke exhaled from cigarettes is more toxic than the smoke inhaled. Inhaled smoke has 5.3 to 43 nanograms of the carcinogen, dimethylnitrosamine. While on the other hand, second hand smoke has 680 to 823 nanograms. Secondhand smoke has 11 times the amount of quinoline compared to inhaled smoke. That’s about 18,000 nanograms.

At this point, this is when the logo kicked and so did what I thought was going to be the opening theme song and animation.
But no.

This was all we got. Well this changing colours. But I preferred the blue one the best.

The beat sounded so cool and i was getting into the groove and they totally ruined it! If I had to say something bad about this episode, it was that there was not opening song and animation. I kind of understand why since it probably shows Hei and Yin and people who have yet to be introduced at this time… but it was still kind of annoying. Especially with that tease of the song for a good 10 seconds. Music is important to me!

Anyway, the episode focuses around this girl Suou and her twin brother Shion (which took me forever to get because in my head, I already know male characters named Suou and female ones named Shion and never the other way around, so this didn’t even occur to me… I need to realize a lot of Japanese names are unisex.) who seem to be at the heart of this problem. And seeing as this series will only be 12 episodes long, it is likely this will simply be one arc mainly about these twins which should be interesting. There are lots of crazy things you can do with siblings, particularly twins, in a story.

I was pretty surprised so many people got killed off in the first episode. Like April and Mao! Aww… cats are just too awesome. I was also kinda sad there wasn’t much Hei in this episode. And when he finally showed up…

And in the preview he’s a bum?

Looks like the next ep will show us what will happen between the two seasons since he’s still got shortish hair when he’s a bum… interesting.

Well, as I’ve been mainly posting about my time at Fan Expo in the last few weeks, there are a couple things here and there that didn’t fit in which I will be able to now! (Yay?) I initially tried to add a couple new things but realized it was getting out of hand so that will be for next time.

And just out of curiosity,
WHY AM I STILL KILLING MOSQUITOES IN OCTOBER?!?!?!

I live in a place where we have roughly 6 months of winter, which start in mid to late October, but bugs are usually gone by September! I guess it doesn’t help that part of my mom’s garden has been moved indoors but that only brings in small flies. The point is this does not help what little concentration/patience I already have.

Oh and I’m already behind on Heroes and Fringe but I will hopefully get caught up on Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice tonight. And don’t even get me started on anything anime… (or Smallville…)

It’s probably best to do this in something akin to chronological order, so the last thing I kind of talked about was finishing FFIII. I’ve already noted how far away the last save point is from the end of the game (which serves no purpose really. Except to drive lower-level-and-guideless players INSANE) but I just want to say that I really liked the how this faqwriter (Seferaga on Gamefaqs) wrote this walkthrough I referred to.
“When cruising in your new airship, avoid flying over Saronia Kingdom. You’ll recognize it as the HUGE castle in the Northwest of the World Map. If you fly over it, bad things will happen and the story will continue. Wait, don’t we want that to happen? NO! Need more treasure.”
It’s little things like this that can dramatically enhance your gaming experience. Particularly for games when walkthroughs are needed more. (This game could have been beaten without a walkthrough but getting all the treasure and all of the HIDDEN ones as well as getting through the Cave of Shadows and knowing where the last save point is would prove difficult)

Another thing that was cool was the item duplication trick that is in some ways better than FFVII’s w-item trick. While FFIII’s trick only lets you duplicate two possible items per battle, it can let you duplicate them even if you only have one. Once I got an elixir, I lost the need for a white mage when I can have unlimited elixirs per battle. And for status effects, I have 99 Angel’s Sighs. Or 99 phoenix downs. There are only two downsides: I can only pick two of these to be unlimited per battle (but 99 should be enough, don’t you think?) and these items are one-person only. Other than that, it’s much better than Curaga, but not necessarily Curaja. While I can use Curaja 20 times at the most (with a devout), I’d rather have another fighter and anyone can use elixirs so that makes things a lot easier. Besides, being at a high level compared to where you are in the game also means less getting hit and a lesser need to heal in-battle.

The one thing that’s kind of annoying is that there’s only one job that will get you 9999 HP by 99 (Black Belt) and you also have to use it when leveling to 99 so all the good jobs that come at the end won’t even get used because you’re busy trying to get 9999 HP with 4 Black Belts. Sure you can switch jobs after and level them up but at that point there’s no real “point” in doing so because you’re basically done the game so unless you want a perfect game with job levels of 99 for each job and each character, you never really get the chance to use the other jobs. I also did not know that before the Ribbon was an accessory, it was a headgear. I guess that works… but would a guy really wear a ribbon? Then again, I highly doubt these people would actually wear half the equipment put on them seriously. But then there’s always the bunny suit in DQ8… lol.

Onto to the next random tidbit. So I’m skimming over some of the stuff on the Capcom official blog and they have this character chart of Fate/Stay Night and related series that includes but is not limited to a love chart and I thought since I’m probably never going to play this game that it wouldn’t hurt to look at it so this might be a spoiler to someone who does want to… Anyway, what the heck is an ex-reincarnation? That’s what one of the arrows was. I’m confused. The arrow next to it, “Past Dark Form” makes slightly more sense but can also be interpreted in a few ways. And who makes their alias “Brainwasher Detective”? Maybe since I know absolutely nothing about the series, it doesn’t make sense to me but… I dunno maybe I’m thinking about the more logical/common rules that go with reincarnation and naming…? At least “Possible Future Self” makes sense because there could be an alternate timeline… wait that might make the ex-reincarnation make sense, if the timeline was changed and they’re not the reincarnation anymore? I guess that’s why there’s a “New Reincarnation” arrow? lol I don’t know where I’m going with this. I just thought this was interestingly weird.

Oh and I got an invite for Google Wave! It is quite hyped up right now and from what I’ve seen, it’s mainly a hype. It is pretty cool and the whole idea of it being live and seeing what other people are typing to you is awesome in itself but I’ve only shared a wave with one person so far and I can already imagine how messy things might get. Particularly if you’re trying to add someone to the wave halfway through… It’s kind of hard to explain unless it’s shown to you but basically things don’t necessarily go in chronological order anymore because you can edit anything in the wave and at the same time as someone else. This in itself seems really cool but think about what happens when you’re trying to edit something. Another person in the wave can see that and either adds to the wave or edits an existing blip in the wave to reply to what you’re in the middle of typing. Now you see what that person is trying to type and reply to them. Now you’re continuing the wave in one part while the other person is adding to it in another part and you’ve lost the chronology because the ‘playback’ feature only records when a blip is completed or finished being edited. If you continue the conversation in two currently-being-edited blips, that distinction won’t be made in the playback feature. I’ve tried to describe this as best I could but this is also part of the problem with Google Wave: no one really knows what it is.

Before getting into the con stuff, I thought I’d mention that i really like this cover for the limited edition of the PS3 from FFXIII. It looks totally awesome. Too bad it won’t ever come here…
And FFVIII is now available in the PSN store in Japan! That should mean it gets over here pretty quickly so that’ll be cool too. Another random thing from TGS09 that caught my eye was a new Square Enix game called Death By Cube? Here’s a trailer. Very interesting.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that I wasn’t originally planning for this to stretch three weeks but what with school starting (and musical practices beginning. We’re doing Grease this year! Yay!) and just at how much I wrote for each day, this ended up being the case.

With that said, on to Day 3 we go!

Day 3 wasn’t that long and it was kind of sad because it was the last day… but there were still tons of stuff to see.

First up was a Q&A session with Robert Duncan McNeill which was a lot of fun. What was cool was that he had a lot of cool stories from the many shows he’s worked on as an actor, director and producer like these two clips.

What was also cool was that even though he was mainly there for being on Star Trek, he was asked some questions about Chuck! (which he directs and produces). The first bit is about practical jokers on the Voyager set but the second half is a Chuck question.

It was funny because there were two people in the back dressed up as Chuck and Sara in a Weinerlicious outfit and Robert got so excited that people dressed up as Chuck characters lol. It was cool.

Anyway, so after that I planned to go to the Q&A for Colleen Clinkenbeard, Brina Palencia and Monica Rial but when I looked in (I was also a few minutes late) not only were the three of them not in the room yet but the room was also quite empty. And while I wanted to see them (mainly Colleen) I was not an avid fan of their work and did not know their stuff well enough to think of any questions… particularly when under pressure as there were so few in the room… so I left. In a way, it was alright because I was having a dilemma about whether to go to that Q&A or to go see Scott McNeill at his Meet&Greet session (more like I’d walk up as close as I can and take pictures of him and then run away). Anyway, so I tried that the first time but was pretty unsuccessful and then came back later and got this.

Yes, I do realize I could have just gotten in line and actually spoken to him, gotten his autograph AND a picture but I’m not so bold as to do that by myself, so I had to resort to sneaky tactics. And somehow (I guess he noticed me… I must have horrible sneaky tactics) he’s even looking my way in the picture! But I’m kinda annoyed he didn’t have a Q&A. That would have been awesome.

Anyway, I met up again with my sister and my brother-in-law after they went to the Q&A session for Billy Dee Williams and I was thinking of going to Crispin Freeman’s Q&A (because he’s just cool ) but then I realized the last major show he’d worked on was Code Geass and I still have yet to start/finish that series and I am planning to so spoilers would have been a problem. To try and compromise, I was lucky the door to his session was still open so I took a picture.

I don’t know why (though I really do: not all of these are taken with ‘permission’) but looking back at all the photos I took, I feel like such a creep… lol

I was kind of disappointed I didn’t see too many Cross Academy students from Vampire Knight. I think I maybe saw one or two which is kind of sad because it’s a pretty nice uniform. (I would have posted it but it’s not the greatest pic… kinda blurry… so yeah) I understand why I didn’t see many/any Ouran uniforms because that is now an older show but VK is still fairly recent… no? I even saw some cosplays of Lightning from FFXIII and that’s not even out yet! Anyway, I guess because this con was more of everything than specifically anime that only a small variety of anime cosplays were seen. But there were still some great stuff.

Anyway, that brings us to the end of this con… it’s kind of sad… but I enjoyed it! Next year we hope to go to Comic Con but we do realize that will be INSANE, but nevertheless we will try.

Anyway, onwards to Day 2 of Fan Expo!
The next day, we knew we had to line up fairly early to get good seats at Leonard Nimoy’s Q&A session.

Yup. That’s for Nimoy. But the people further back are just trying to get into the exhibit floor.
Surprisingly, getting there only an hour earlier seemed to get us good seats (6th row) but there was still time so we played some card games with some friends that we caught up with in line.

This game is surprisingly a lot of fun.

And then we got in.

Nimoy was really cool but unfortunately he got some really long and stupid questions. Still, there were some great moments and it was funny how every time he made the Vulcan sign the number of flashes from cameras increased. I’ll admit I was one of them. He told us about the story of how the gesture came about and some other cool tidbits about his time shooting the show and shooting the movie and why I did not think of recording any of his session I don’t know. I can only blame myself for that moment of stupidity, but at least I have some pictures? Ah that makes sense now. I kept trying to get good pictures so I couldn’t have been videotaping. Or at least that’s the excuse I’ll use from now on. lol.

Live long and prosper.

It was also funny because both my sister and I realized afterward we were thinking of the same question to ask him: “What do you think about the Spock/Uhura pairing?” And it was even more hilarious because my sister was dressed up as Uhura. But unfortunately, we were both to shy to put our hands up. Anyway, we still had a good time seeing him.

Then we went to see Linda Hamilton and she was pretty cool. She talked a lot about the character of Sarah Connors and about working with Arnold and she was pretty funny. She also talked about her ex James Cameron and actually made jokes about him too so that was cool because I’m pretty sure many of us weren’t sure if it was okay to ask about that subject, but she was perfectly fine with it.

Next was Avery Brooks and that… was kind of disappointing. Sure, he has an awesome voice and that in itself was reason enough to go see him but he himself… well it was pretty obvious he was a drama teacher. He kept trying to be deep and sometimes he was but really it was just a bunch of filler words to sound cool. Although it’s not completely his fault, since he got asked even worse questions than what Nimoy got asked, but when someone tried to ask him something ‘normal’, he did NOT give a normal reply. I remember one of the questions being “What are you doing now?” or basically what new projects was he working on and he went on basically saying that he was “staying alive”. He would keep trying to explain the most random things and end each sentence with “do you understand?” or “you know?”. Or for a while, he would end his sentences with “EH?” since we were in Canada. That got old pretty quickly due to how frequently he said it. Anyway, I think I kind of zoned out near the end but he randomly went off stage to grab a bible and started singing. I do have a video of this but it was already on Youtube so here it is.

Later we saw Bruce Campbell who I didn’t really know but my brother-in-law did and he had an awesome Q&A session. It didn’t really matter that I didn’t know many of the things he was in because it was still hilarious. He’s just a really funny person who knows how to handle fans which is definitely something I respect because it is NOT easy lol. (Language Ahoy!) This was a funny moment and totally his character. He was definitely entertaining.

This person has better-looking videos of Bruce’s Q&A than I do and she’s slightly closer seating-wise but… I don’t mean to be rude but she’s got an even more annoying laugh than I do and that’s saying something. But she does have the whole session while I only have most of it, so that’s cool.

This is a little late now but the end of summer and school were a little higher up on my list so yeah! Better late than never? lol

It was an action-packed three days (with little sleep) and an awesome time. My only regret is that I didn’t use a lot of flash in my pictures so many ended up blurry but I was just trying to be nice and not add to the blindness created by all the other flash photographers. But apparently, it was needed. I still have a lot of pictures though so it’s alright.

I went with my sister and my brother-in-law and since we had bought our tickets ahead of time, we were allowed to get into the convention earlier but because my sister was dressing up, time went by and we ended up getting there when everyone arrived. And just for the record, it was not my sister’s fault for being slow. If I had been in her position, I would have taken just as long if not longer.

But anyway, all we missed was the first showing of the Tron:Legacy sneak peek which we saw later and MAN was that a disappointment. And it was irritating because they made us leave all our cameras at the door so we were hoping for like a 10-minute clip of the movie or something. It was actually funny because between the three of us we had a fairly insane amount of cameras and phones with cameras (two cameras (I had a third but didn’t bring it) and something like 3 or four cellphones with cameras because we had our usual phones and a couple with Toronto numbers (why we didn’t just move the SIM card around I do not know but whatever) so when we gave all our stuff to the guy handling everything, his face was just so surprised and he had to pause for a second lol. Anyway, all it was was the trailer (which has been online for a while), some concept pictures, and this one scene from the beginning of the movie which is BEFORE the guy gets into the game world. So really, we saw nothing. The only thing that WAS cool was the life-size light cycle on the exhibit floor.

Cool.

Anyway so the first person I saw was Brad Swaile and I went alone for this one because the last big thing Brad was in was Death Note and my sister and brother-in-law are in the middle/beginning of watching it so I was worried about spoilers. While there was nothing particularly spoilerish about the plot, there were definitely ending spoilers. I like going to see voice actors not just because they’re in my favourite shows but because they’re usually outgoing people that just love what they do. I’m not saying other actors don’t love what they do but I feel like they’re usually more motivated by money than voice actors because for many of them, it is not their full-time job (like Brad is a graphic designer). That and because they’re not as mainstream in their popularity, they’re more down-to-earth people that are just really cool.

Brad’s session ended up going a little long (which was no problem with me lol) but I still had to leave before it ended to get to the session for James Kyson Lee (from Heroes fame). He was alright and the conversation was bound to be interesting because how can superheroes not be interesting? But that being said, James himself was… alright. Nothing particularly special or anything but still a cool guy.

Next we saw Walter Koenig (Chekov, duh) and he was pretty hilarious. He did an amazing impression of George Takei which I unfortunately did not get on video tape but I’m sure it’s out there somewhere. (found it! There are two bits. It actually doesn’t sound as good on this video as it did when I was there, but it’s still great) That and his stories with George and Bill (Shatner) were definitely the highlights of that session.

Then we saw the Tron: Legacy Sneak Peek which as I said was a horrible disappointment and that plus a few minutes at the J-Pop dance concluded Day 1.

Oh! And I’m done FFIII which was alright… too much focus on grinding to a perfect game (like all those jobs…) but I still got my whole team to level 99. That wasn’t too hard. And that added with not many sidequests made it kind of boring. And what’s the point of playing after you’ve beaten the final boss? I was a little confused there. But now I’m thinking it may be because the last save point was so far away so some people may have thought “I may as well go all the way even though there are some things I haven’t finished” so that’s what that is for. But seriously there was a hefty amount of stuff at the end with no save points and could be insanely hard for people who aren’t anywhere near level 99, which is quite unfortunate. Anyway, now I’m starting The World Ends With You and I’m trying to play Chocobo Tales but a lot of the minigames are so hard… it has some pretty good lines though. I need to find a game script… Particularly from Croma, the black mage. Right now I’m thinking of “Holy deus ex machina!” and “You’re pretty fly for a white mage” lol. I think that’ll cover my random quote for this post.

Being me, I forgot to say anything about how I was going to be away at my friend’s cottage for a week! But that aside, I had NO INTERNET! This trip reminded me of my dependence on it and how integral it has become in our everyday lives. Not that it’s completely a bad thing, though. Just something to think about. Particularly how many hours you spend in a day staring at a screen… and what time of day… but anyway, I was always busy so I think there were only two long moments when I thought about wanting the internet and that was only because some of the people I was with were going into town that day to go to an internet cafe and the other time was because I remember it was Friday and I’d have to read my weekly manga and possibly start writing my weekly(ish) post. Which I have to say was pretty impressive. I still can’t believe I survived a whole week! Of course, that will make me even more behind but that’s just something I have to deal with… lol

While at the cottage, I was able to see this cool sky after a storm.

It’s really cool because you can still see some blue in the sky mixed with the pink as well as a rainbow and where the sunset is currently hitting the trees. Very cool. Here is some more of the mix of pink and blue sky and this one is full out pink.

Anyway, checking past Gamefaqs polls, there’s apparently a slim PS3 for $299 coming in September? It is at a much better price right now but I still don’t have any games that I’m dying to play on it yet. Once FFXIII comes out though… well, we’ll have to wait. Especially because that article says “sorry, Sony didn’t add IR or backwards compatibility for PS2 games”, although this may possibly still work since it does have USB ports and PS1 games can be bought and downloaded from the PlayStation Store. Or is that only PS1 games and not PS2…? Hmm. I dunno. But that is kinda important because I still play a lot of my PS2 games… we’ll see.

My friend showed me a video of this crazy Chinese acro-ballet that is insanely awesome and even with the acrobatics, it’s still so graceful. Beautiful. Yet insane. I’m speechless.

So I’m playing Final Fantasy III on my newly borrowed DS (thanks sis!) and a couple things come to mind. One, I think it’s kind of cool how in some areas you have to become mini or toad to get through. I like it when magic is used for more than just battles. Maybe that’s why I loved Golden Sun so much. But anyway, there’s that and also the uninventive castle names. They just name them after the king! I’m sorry but Castle Sasune, Castle Argus and Castle Hein are just not very good names. The first one would have been alright until I found out it was the king’s name. You’d think they’d be able to come up with a better name. Also, why is Aero considered white magic? I mean it’s helpful since it’s the only real offensive magic that a white mage can have at this point (why don’t you ever get Holy at the beginning of a game?) but still feels a little out of place. And, as my sister pointed out since she is also playing this (which was great since we were able to send messages to each other for the quest to get the Onion Knight job) but plot-wise, it’s pretty vague. We have to save the world and visit the four crystals but right now we just help out whoever comes our way. Not that there’s anything wrong with helping people, but this being the main thing moving the plot really shows there is no plot. And that’s kind of important in an RPG. This is the earliest Final Fantasy game I’ve played but I’m sure the first two must have had a bit more of a plot than this. But maybe I’m still quite early on in the game? I dunno. There are still general things happening in the plot that we learn about and have to do but it’s so spread out that I forget about it. But anyway, that’s what’s on my mind right now.

Now, I will definitely remember to say that next week I won’t have a post because one, I’ll be in Toronto, and two, because I will be there for the Fan Expo! I’ll try to get some awesome pictures

Watched it yesterday lol

Hello! Unfortunately, I can only do a short post today (er… shorter-ish? I don’t even know) due to people taking over my room with my computer (guest room only has a single/double bed (fits one person basically) while I have a queen.) and also, due to said people, we will probably be going out. Just came back from a quick trip to Montreal so that was fun. Pretty city. My friend and I happened to run into people we knew from school which was interesting. We seem to have a talent for running into people we know outside our home city or even randomly within our city. Or maybe everyone does? Anyway, possibly because we’re just awkward people it’s always interesting. (But in the back of my mind, I’m thinking, “Is that a good thing?”).

Anyway, this trip has confirmed my already ongoing dilemma. I have to choose a university to go to soon (yes I’m not in university yet. But maybe that was made obvious by my posts about summer school? Hmm. Well, now you know.) and without getting into too many details, it basically boils down to this: one university has just about everything I want except for some specialized courses for a minor I would like while another university HAS the minor I want but not the other benefits of the first university. There’s also the difference between a 4-year and a 5-year program and whether after five years, I’ll still want to do this one-year course at a special college which will add to my minor… and in case you’re wondering, this minor (as far as I have seen) is not a “major” at most universities except for some specialized ones. But I feel like some of those will require portfolios and more than just marks, which I may or may not have…

Did I mention one of the university residences we saw in Montreal was a hotel?

If that made any sense to you, I applaud you. For even being able to read half the things I write, I sincerely applaud you. I just hope I can figure this out soon… oh and then my sister said “Try for Stanford!” since we visited the place while I was in California, but hehe that’s a reach. And who knows if they have the extra stuff I want. And I’d need a scholarship to get into that place. But I guess it won’t hurt to try lol. Blah…
