… does not even begin to cover it.

And I haven’t completely disappeared… although I did come close.

The first thing you see when you reach the convention center. Is that an awesome start to your day or what?

My trip to California and Las Vegas was awesome. Insanely awesome. And also quite insane.

Let me try and explain.

As I mentioned before, I was going to Comic-Con for the first time with my sister and brother-in-law. I arrived in the Bay area a week before the convention which included the Distant Worlds concert and mainly ‘prepping’ for Comic-Con (aka catching up on shows. I obviously was (*ahem* AM) not only behind on the anime I follow, but other stuff too). We were too late for to get the 4-day pass and had to settle for Friday and Saturday passes. We thought those two would be the best days anyway, which in many ways was still true, but Thursday was apparently pretty epic… But anyway, we left Thursday night for San Diego and we had already gone through the Comic-Con schedule to see which panels we were planning to go to.

Oooh.

And boy were there a plethora of them to choose from. Eventually, we narrowed it down to our top 3 for the busy time slots, with 2 backups in case we couldn’t get into various events. As I said, this was our first Comic-Con and we had no idea what to expect. We knew there would be tons of people but even if we did know the numbers at that time (which I don’t think we did, but it’s about 125,000), there’s a big difference between imagining a number of people and walking through it.

And needless to say, we were overwhelmed.

Contemplate real hard why you bothered trying in the first place.

So I had started a post for Fullmetal Alchemist but I thought it would be better to post it once the anime is over to do it all together.

Plus, I’m done high school.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

*ahem*
Okay. Back to what this post may or may not have been originally about.

WARNING!
Girl talk is about to ensue.

So a few weeks ago, my sister was telling me how she started experimenting with some simple nail art and she asked me to give her some more ideas that weren’t too complicated. During this search (which inevitably led to a youtube binge) I came across a design called marble nails.

It didn’t look to complicated and more importantly, it didn’t require any artistic skill.

It seemed simple enough, right?

Alright, so I didn’t end up watching House of Leaves yet but I did get around to Senko no Night-Raid and Uragiri, which are both getting quite interesting. I am a little surprised that Senko had something of a filler episode when it’s only 13 episodes long… I’m not sure what that’s about yet.

But anyway, we’ll get straight to it this time!

Also, possible spoilers ahead.

Sigh…

My IB exams are over (the only IB course I took was standard level math) so while my heart goes out to those with at least 10 IB papers to write, I’m annoyed that I still have another 7 weeks of school. The only benefit to being full-IB is getting out of school by the end of May and right now, I kind of wish I chose that route. But only kind of. (Because the IB sucks.)

And seriously. Who FORCES you to write a math exam in pen?
I understand it’s to better see the writing after scanning the papers but we know for a fact ours weren’t getting scanned this year. So why?

Anyway, I think I’m gonna continue my recent method of posting several show reviews in one post since I like it and it keeps me slightly more on track than usual. However, since I’m covering 4-5 shows, it still may be better to split this into two posts, so here’s Kaichou wa Maid-sama and Hakuouki.
But before then, I’ve also been trying to get caught up on Fringe (particularly because of the musical episode that came out a week or 2 ago) so of course, a song caught my eye.

It’s called Freezing by MoZella. I think it’s a really cool song because it has dark-sounding verses but quite a bright and happy chorus. Plus her sexy, raspy voice is quite awesome. I was looking at some of her other songs and I like her vibe: it’s the kind of music that you’d hear at a hip clothing store or on various commercials (maybe because they have been on various commercials? lol). It’s mellow and yet has a good beat. An awesome find. Also great acoustically.

On to the shows!

Just great.

Yeah. Just great.

Well, school has taken over my life and will continue to do so for the next week at least with one (slash two) of my exams coming up. This has also resulted in me not having much time for shows, but I will say a little about another show I’m considering sticking with, which is Uragiri wa Boku no Namae o Shitteiru. And isn’t that a mouthful. But I just want to say that it’s gorgeous. Sure, it’s considered shounen-ai but even if you’re not into that, it didn’t look like it was that overly done or anything in the first episode. I think also the fact that the guy likes the other guy “only” because he loved his previous incarnation who was a girl makes it less shounen-ai-ish. But then again, I haven’t read the manga and I’ve only seen the first episode so there could (and probably will be?) more to this. Either way, it is still shounen-ai so it will either be a “will they or won’t they” situation or their love will be obvious but neither of them will act on it. While we didn’t see too much use of supernatural abilities/weapons in the first episode, the opening definitely hinted at more so I’m excited for that. This definitely has a Vampire Knight feel to it but I’ve yet to determine whether that’s a good or bad thing. Still, it has its looks, supernatural-ness and voice cast going for it. (Which VK did as well…) But seriously. Takahiro Sakurai, Jun Fukuyama, Marina Inoue, Daisuke Ono, Mamoru Miyano, and Akira Ishida in the cast? I’m not even sure you can go wrong with this.

Either way, here are some gorgeous screens!

So here’s three shows in one post! I don’t feel like too much happened in any of them so it felt better to put them all in one post. Perhaps surprisingly, they were all quite enjoyable.

Yay!

April Fools! (If only…)

Before I begin my rant, did you have an interesting April Fools Day? There were some interesting pranks on various websites, like Gamefaq‘s usual hidden poll answer (… it’s getting old). I liked WoW’s matchmaking service. It has a pretty funny intro video and a couple funny options such as “I am a lonely wizard looking for a mighty ally between level 90 and level 99.” Unfortunately, the joke stops there. It says it keeps loading stuff but it loops (yes I checked lol). Still, it lives up to WoW’s reputation for great April Fools pranks. (They’re one of the few that I actually remember years later.)

Two others that I liked were Koticku and Japanator going Americanator. It was quite an elaborate prank with many posts relating to the cause and it was very cool. Some of the articles were meh but combine them all and they are quite awesome and funny, especially the recommendation for Jersey Shore and an X-Men/Twilight crossover. I lol’d quite a bit at the crossover.

There were quite a few game-related ones (and I’m sure that’s not even an extensive list) that I was pretty surprised. Maybe I usually don’t see all this because I’m quite gullible so I choose to avoid all news on that day? Hmm.

Anyway, get ready for some fairly major ranting.

Wow.

2-0 Canada vs. US in the second period! WOO!

Yesterday was a great day for Canadian athletes! (particularly the men!) Three golds in one day! I unfortunately missed the men’s snowboard parallel giant slalom and the speed skating men’s team pursuit but I was able to watch the men’s curling and that was a great game. Go Canada!

Last Friday was my mom’s birthday so my sister in California sent her some ‘flower’s from Edible Arrangements!
I’d say this one is my best picture. (Sadly, I took a bunch of pictures but was unsatisfied with the results)

Beautiful and yummy.

And what’s even cooler this time was that there were white chocolate-covered strawberries too! Apparently this was a new addition (or something only available to some of their products) so it was a delightful surprise. The dark chocolate ones were yummy too but I have a sweet spot for white chocolate (pun intended).

And, I guess as usual by now, I have a new song that is maybe not quite willingly but pleasingly stuck in my head and first it was Reason by Fonogenico (which would also make sense since it’s the ending theme to xxxHolic which I just finished) but that changed the moment I heard another one of their songs: Rhythm.

Lyrics and mp3 link can be found in the video’s description. Having never heard the band before hearing the softer ballad-like Reason, this was not the type of song I was expecting but I was pleasantly surprised. I love the jazziness and it’s just so catchy and has a really lovely melody. I don’t think the quality of the Youtube video does it justice so I really suggest hearing/downloading the mp3 version. And then when she starts scatting near the end, it just blew my mind. Awesome.

So I finished xxxHolic…

Darker Than Black – 3

Gah.
I’ve been busy busy busy and next week is going to be insane so this is basically going to be something of a picture recap of the episode.

I did see this earlier this week and it reminded me just how awesome the 90s were. Good times. 🙂
And this is kind of old now but I gotta admit, I kind of want this, and it’s even a “unisex perfume” so I could get away with it. Gotta love how much people will milk a franchise for all that it’s worth. And the funny thing is, it works.

Anyway, on with the show!

I just realized why I can’t think of titles.
Because I write about what could possibly be stretched into like four different posts. There’s just too much to cover in one title.

Will that help me correct the problem?
Probably not.

Lol yay my sister started playing Crisis Core and I’m very excited. Why, I’m not completely sure, but I am getting the feeling of wanting to play CC again so for now I’ll have to live with playing it vicariously through her. It probably won’t happen during the winter holidays since I’ll hopefully be getting Dissidia and 358/2 Days so there will be plenty of games to play. I’ll have to make due with The World Ends With You right now. And I kind of said this before, but OMG JOSHUA! I hate him and his smugness but at the same time I don’t like Neku for being THAT remorseful because for all we know, he even planned this far… (I tried not to say too much but I’m at the beginning of Chapter 3 right now if that helps)

Anyway, so I’ve watched the second ep of Darker than Black Gemini of the Meteor and the first three of Inuyasha – The Final Act so that’s what this’ll be focused on. Random interesting bits here and there too maybe lol. We’ll see 🙂

Lots of pics too!
