BREAK

Aren’t breaks awesome? Spring break has started for me (after a crazy term. I really need a break right now) so I’m off to California next week! My sister just got a PS3 and I’ll be coming just in time for the release of Final Fantasy XIII so you can guess what we’ll be doing for the next week or so. (This may or may not affect my posting something here… we’ll see.)

But before that, I have to pack, and this is one of the songs on constant replay during my packing. I mentioned it in a previous post but it’s so amazing that it deserves its own feature. Here’s Dynamo of Volition by Jason Mraz.

Did you catch the Nintendo reference? lol

I’ll admit I’m trying to memorize this and I’ve got the first half down. Time well wasted? I think so.

Speaking of FFXIII…

Random thoughts

… though aren’t my thoughts always random? lol.

Anyway, so with Crunchyroll‘s efforts for more (semi-free) subbed anime and simulcasts, they’ve put up some translated title logos, and one I’m particularly annoyed with is the one for Shugo Chara. I realize that My Guardian Characters is a suitable translation but it’s such a mouthful. And Shugo Chara sounds sooo much better. I don’t understand what sort of categorizing they go through when translating some things over others and whatnot because some of the other logos aren’t even romanized, let alone translated. I’d just like to know what qualifies something to be translated when the original version rolls off the tongue much better. Just saying.

Anyway, I do have some shows that I have finished but I’ll talk about those later because I’m just not in the mood right now. I don’t know lol. But anyway, I’ve listed a few things I’d like to see in Skip Beat that I’d find interesting and/or fabulous.

Enjoy!

Boo… only a two-day weekend… lol

Haven’t had one of these in a while… and it feels kinda weird. Anyway, lotsa stuff this week! I probably won’t get to all of it, but I’ll just mention most of it. So, to start off, Kingdom Hearts is getting a piano collection! I’m really excited because I LOVE all the Final Fantasy Piano collections (or just any FF music in general. All the versions too 🙂 ) so I’m really excite that KH is getting one! It may not be done by Nobuo Uematsu (aka music GENIUS) but Yoko Shimomura has done some amazing work as well. Ah… these people are so amazing… I’m so envious… and more Square-related news, they’ve added more to the North America Dissidia page. It’s still very teaser-ish, but it looks totally awesome. I can’t wait for this to come out. Who wouldn’t love an FF all-star fighting game? That could very well be cooler than mixing Disney with Final Fantasy.

And it looks like Funimation is following Crunchyroll with simulcasts? Cool. And with FMA! Even cooler. “FUNimation will deliver high-quality, free, original Japanese dialogue accompanied by English subtitles, streaming episodes of studio Bones’ new Fullmetal Alchemist via http://www.funimation.com as well as key video-sharing partners.” I’m assuming the other video-sharing partners to be Hulu and Joost, so that may be US-only. Joost and Funimation are not as restricted, as far as I know, but we’ll see if they add restrictions because they’re simulcasts. Either way, very cool.

And while I won’t have time to talk about this too much right now, I finally finished up Saiunkoku Monogatari Season 2, Gundam 00 First season (lol yes I’m behind. By a whole season), and Skip Beat. For Skip Beat, all I’m gonna say is that it was amazing but cut off at a bad point in the arc. I’m glad they didn’t rush to try to finish the arc or anything, but without confirmation of a second season, it is still a cliffhanger, and that’s annoying. I still think the anime is amazing, but a second season is definitely needed. They didn’t even get to THE SCENE yet! (chapters 68-71 for those who want to know)

New chapters of Shugo Chara and Skip Beat, and TRC? Yay! lol

That’s why you need a plan b

So, as usual, my original plan didn’t end up happening so instead of finishing up Nabari no Ou, this week I caught up on Shugo Chara, which is still progress so that was good. And also, I’m feeling the need to further express my love of Skip Beat so I’ll be sure to do that in this post.

But I also feel like listening to a song…

This is Toast by J featuring Humming Urban Stereo. This is a really calming yet upbeat song that I feel like you’d here in a high-class coffee shop or something and I think it’s really cool. I can’t really remember how I found this song but I’m pretty sure it happened after surfing random videos of songs on Youtube which led me to this. I was also doing this yesterday for game music and came across some that were compilations of victory fanfares from a bunch of games and just listening to that reminded me of the great moments in those games and that happy feeling. Oh the wonderful memories…

Oh and if you’re not caught up on Shugo Chara or Skip Beat, this post may not be for you.
Anyway…

I’m too lazy to think of a title

But I’m in the mood for a song…

It’s Hey Jude from the movie Across the Universe. The Beatles are awesome. And I’m learning to play it on the guitar! Yay!

So…

Oh yes… a new show

Well, I saw this coming, but what I didn’t expect was this post getting long enough that I would decide to post it during the week. Well, you surprise even yourself sometimes… 🙂

I just watched the first episode of the new show Lie To Me and I just have to say I thought it was fabulous. This is definitely getting added to my list of shows. I love the glares and stares of the main guy, Cal Lightman and for some reason, he reminds me of House from House (that sounded redundant lol), even though I’ve only seen a few episodes of that (yes, I know… it’s a shame). I think it’s their harsh and hidden (or not so hidden?) pessimistic view on life that I like, maybe because it’s kinda of like my view? lol perhaps, perhaps.
I really liked the style of the show and how they emphasized the little gestures or microexpressions to get us into the mind of Lightman and see what he sees without explicitly saying that. What I’m a little worried about though is how far this show can go, because part of the reason I liked this episode so much was that I learned some of the microexpressions that people use to show or hide certain expressions and show how they lie, but I’m under the impression that there can only be so many different ways the body tells us that a person is lying. At that point, I feel like it might get repetitive, but then again, the idea of CSI sounds repetitive and yet I love that show and there are at least three shows like that (I don’t like CSI: New York. And you may say it’s just the same as either of the other two, but it’s not just the characters I don’t like, but it’s just too grey. Las Vegas is dark, Miami is sunset-coloured, and New York is grey. From a random recent episode I saw of it, it looks like it got better, but it’s still there. I guess I’m biased now against it so there’s an even less chance of me getting to like it, but well, yeah).

Also…

Whoa…

Okay WordPress just got a new layout for the dashboard and it really caught me by surprise lol. I just had to say that before I really got into this post. Just whoa.

Anyway…
BLAH!

The stress is starting to sort of get to me. You know, who am I kidding. I’d be perfectly fine if I wasn’t such a horrible procrastinator. But there’s no point in talking about how slow and lazy I am, or at least that aspect of it lol. So I had caught up on almost all of my shows like two weeks ago, but I’m pretty sure we all knew that wouldn’t last long. Unless there are some crazy optimists out there… which is quite possible. Anyway, the musical at my school has its shows all next week so I’m completely screwed for homework. AND the week after I have to do this 10-15 minute English presentation on two books whose main theme is sex. Talk about awkward and plain weird and blah. I’m basically going to be saying a 1500-word essay out loud. Yay. Not only do I have to write this monster but I have to basically memorize it. Great. See my enthusiasm? Yeah, almost non-existent. AND I don’t completely have a topic yet… the main one revolves around sexual relations and I know talking about that will be a good way to suck up to my teacher (don’t even ask…) so that should be okay.

But anyway…

Blah…

Well, another week has gone by.
Yay?
lol
How was your Halloween? Nothing too eventful for me. I guess I’m not that spirited lol
Well, there’s daylight savings time tomorrow, so we gain an hour (of sleep!) , so yay! that’s always cool.

Anyway, I was watching some shows (as I usually do on weekends) and I have to say I love the humour in Fringe. It’s not over-the-top, but it’s still really cool. And I think Peter’s sarcasm is awesome. He’s by far the coolest character on the show. And speaking of cool characters, Pete from Private Practice just got cooler too with a peak into his past and how he used to be with Doctors Without Borders and how is name is also, (coincidentally?) actually Peter. I haven’t watched this week’s Heroes yet (or last week’s, for that matter. That’s next on my list) but I’m hoping there’ll be something that’ll make him be even more badass, but I’m not sure after what happened to him recently… Oh! And another cool character that showed up this week was Owen Hunt on Grey’s Anatomy who may seem rude and horrible, but he’s just blunt lol. Ah… you gotta love the badasses or potential ones. 🙂

On another note…

Ah… my eyes!

Oh god. It was worse than I imagined. There were two different sets of eyedrops. TWO!
I know you probably think I’m exaggerating, but I’m not kidding. I was shaking. The first one stung (but it was not as bad as balsamic vinegar… wait, I’ve had balsamic vinegar in my eye? Yes… unfortunately… numerous times too… god that hurt… I need to mix my salads in bigger bowls…) and then the second one started to make me sensitive to light and a bit blurry. And then my eyes got heavy and it felt really weird to close my eyes… *shudders* I don’t want to think about it anymore. But anyway, the more important thing to know is that I won’t have to get it done for another two years! Yay! Oh, and for the first time in my life, I was prescribed glasses. It’s just a slight adjustment so I don’t need to wear them everyday, but they’ll be nice to have. It’s gonna be weird to start carrying them around though… I’m so not used to it! And in case you didn’t realize, there’s no way I’m EVER going to wear contacts, for hopefully by now obvious reasons.

Anyway…

And… Happy 33rd Anniversary, SNL!

I realized I didn’t talk about this last week, but I finished Neo Angelique Abyss ~Second Age~ and… well, let’s just say the first one was much better. To me, it felt like the pace was really slow and I know character development is important to a good show, but I think this was overkill. The first season managed to keep a balance while doing this, but I felt this time, it was just overdone, and it was done for basically all the important characters in the show, including some of which I didn’t. And adding to the fact that a certain character (who will not be named for MAJOR spoiler reasons) was not there most of the time, it just felt kind of empty, and it wasn’t really a happy ending. I mean it was, don’t get me wrong, nobody died, but… Well, it didn’t leave a good feeling in me after watching it.

So… for marking this season only (not the first season, those scores would be much higher)
Overall: 7
Story: 6
Animation: 8
Sound: 8
Character: 7
Enjoyment: 7
